What BayouWatch collects, why, and what it never does with it.

BayouWatch collects only what it needs to deliver flood alerts: the address and phone number you give when you sign up, and your language and alert preferences. We never sell or share this information for advertising.

Your address is used only to match you with the nearest sensors and work out your flood risk. Addresses you look up are sent to Google’s geocoding service to find their coordinates. Your saved street and preferences are stored in your browser, and you can clear them any time from Settings.

Sensor, weather and alert data shown on the site is public information from the U.S. Geological Survey, the National Weather Service and the Harris County Flood Control District.

BayouWatch is a student civic technology project from Carnegie Vanguard High School. For questions about your data, contact the team through the About page.
